Big Brother Africa 6 (also known as Big Brother Africa: Amplified) is the sixth season of the Big Brother Africa series. It ran for 91 days between the 1st of May and 31st of July of the year 2011. Ikponmwosa "IK" Osakioduwa returned as the host of the show for the third time in a row.

Format

Housemate Setup

There were twenty-six housemates this season and all lived in the same house for a week then lived in two different houses from the second week (Heads House and Tails House). The housemates were competing for US$400 000. It was revealed on Day 42 during the live show that this season will have two winners and that each winner will receive US$200 000 as the prize money. This season, fourteen countries participated and each provided at least one contestant to be a housemate. There were supposed to be two contestants for each country, but two contestants pulled out of the show at the last moment for personal reasons. All fourteen countries were returning countries. These fourteen countries were Angola, Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Head of House

The Head of House was feature that would give one particular housemate special and unique privileges. This would especially come in handy during nominations for they were given a special privilege in terms of saving and replacing nominees. Each Head of House for the week would be determined by the Head of House challenges played on Friday. Whoever wins the Head of House challenge becomes the following week's Head of House.

Nominations

Every week, housemates were to nominate two other housemates up for eviction. The housemates who received the most nominations were then put up for eviction. The Head of House must then decide which housemate to save and which housemate to replace them with or the Head of House will also face eviction. If the Head of House was also nominated, they can save themselves and put up another housemate in their place. Depending on the Head of House's decision, that list will be the housemates put up for eviction that week and Africa will then decide who stays and who goes.

Voting

This season, viewers voted for the housemate they wanted to save. If a housemate received the least votes from Africa, that housemate would be evicted out of the competition. During the finale week, viewers instead voted for the housemate they wanted to win and see walk away with the prize money. The votes were split into fourteen country votes with the Rest of Africa split as the fifteenth vote to split up possible ties.

Housemates

On Day 1, twenty-six housemates entered the house on launch night.

Twists

A twist is an addition to the Big Brother game that makes the competition more interesting and gives different results and also contributes in changing a housemate's opinion on the game that they are playing. The following twist occurred this season:

Fuse

The Fuse is twist that was introduced during the live eviction show on Day 35. It gave an evicted housemate the privilege to punish any of the housemates that were still competing in the house for a week up until the live eviction show. Should any of the housemates fail to comply with their punishment, Big Brother will severely punish them with a worse punishment for the duration of the Fuse length. The Fuses were very similar to the Molotov Cocktails in season 4 and the Daggers in season 5. These were the Fuses thrown at the housemates:

Upcoming Week Evicted Housemate Dagger Punishment Inflicted Housemate
6 Bhoke This housemate had to prepare a hot drink for Big Brother and sing a lullaby to him. Ernest
Ernest This housemate had to use pom-poms and act like a cheerleader whenever Katy Perry's "Firework" played. Nic
8 Danny This housemate had to hug and kiss nearby housemates whenever someone laughs out loud. Alex

Nomination, Eviction and Voting Notes

Week 1

On Day 1, all twenty-six housemates entered the Heads house during the launch for the first week of the season.
However, Big Brother announced that it was audition week and the housemates had to perform various tasks to determine whether or not they're worth the game.

On Day 7, it was announced by IK during the live eviction show that all twenty-six housemates passed the auditions and that they were given a real chance to compete now.
The twenty-six housemates joined IK on stage and picked a glove to determine the house they would stay in.
Fifteen of the twenty-six housemates returned to the Heads house while the remaining eleven housemates went to a new house called the Tails house (the Heads housemates were unaware of a second house and assumed the Tails housemates were evicted).
The fifteen housemates that returned to the Heads house were Bernadina, Confidence, Danny, Felicia, Hanni, Jossy, Lomwe, Michael, Millicent, Sharon O, Vimbai, Vina, Wendall, Weza and Zeus.
The eleven housemates that moved to the Tails house were Alex, Bhoke, Ernest, Karen, Kim, Lotus, Luclay, Mumba, Nic, Nkuli and Peo.

Week 2
